Funkadelic Art Show 08

Here’s another art exhibition opening this Friday night, the very same night as the Reverse Garbage one that I mentioned last week. I want to go to both! Aaaargh! The Funkadelic Art Exhibition will showcase artworks created by people with disabilities who are members of a social and recreational support organisation based on the Northside of Brisbane. This is an annual event, with the first exhibition being held back in 2004. I’ve attended each year and have been lucky enough to snap up some amazing artworks at very reasonable prices. The artists all create with a variety of mediums, so there’s always a great display of different types and styles of art. Paintings, drawings, photography, re-purposed furniture pieces, sculptures, photograms, jewellery, will all be on display and available for sale on the night. Here’s a sneak peak at a few of the artworks that will be featuring in the exhibition. Many thanks to the credited artists below for allowing me to photograph and display your artworks here on my blog! I ♥ your art!

Spiral of Shadows (acrylic on canvas) by Hayley Marrs

The Dark Side (acrylic on canvas) by Nicole Theodoras

Missing Bekim (acrylic on canvas) by Sarah Trudgian

The Funkadelic Art Exhibition opens on Friday 21st November at 7pm for one night only. So if you are interested in attending, head along to the Newmans Function Room, located upstairs at the Geebung-Zillmere RSL Club, Geebung. The evening will include an art auction of selected pieces, yummy nibblies and live music performed by the talented Scott Glennie. It promises to be a fun night out. Always are!

I am interested in attending but I don't think I'll be able to make it. Those paintings are fun, I especially like Missing Bekim. Thanks for sharing.
How fun! I like the Spiral of Shadows most. The others are great but there is just something about this one...
Have fun tonight ;-)

This is great stuff!

These amazing people don't realise how talented they are. I met Hayley just over a week ago - lovely girl.

How fantastic are the colours in these works!!

Hope you have a wonderful day ahead & don't forget to peep in at my place on w/end. Have a lil surprise!

Those paintings are great! I can't go to either exhibition, but I did go into reverse garbage on Wednesday and had a look at everyone's things in there :) It was really cool to see it all in person, as opposed to seeing photos!

Hi Tracy!
I'd love to come tonight ... but can't be in two places at once, sadly! 'Missing Bekim' is such a poignant piece - I really love it! (how big is it, out of curiosity?)
happy Friday night!
Given our time differences...you should have attended the art show by now! Hope you had a wonderful time :-)

The colours are amazing in these pictures! But I think my favourite is the one of spiralling shadows! It seems to symbolise so much from ancient days!
