Shadow Shot Sunday #35

Howdy! The Shadow Gallery collages feature one photo from each participant from last Sunday. If you’d like to join in SSS, please do. How? Shoot a shadow, post it on your blog on Sunday (or close to Sunday), then add your link to Mr Linky, and visit other players. If first-timers could click here for a little further info before submitting your link it would be appreciated. Thanks heaps and I hope you enjoy the shadows!

Here's my Shadow Shot(s) Sunday #35

Some shadows I found last month around Kings Beach at Caloundra on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. I think it was Kings beach. It may have been Bulcock beach. I get my beaches muddled up. I lived on the Sunshine Coast for a couple of years and even then I couldn’t manage to remember the names of all the beaches. There are a LOT of beaches. Caloundra is a very pretty location. While being a popular holiday destination it’s never quite as crowded as other areas of the Sunshine Coast, such as Mooloolaba and Noosa. You can still find space enough to run around like a loon on a beach in Caloundra without colliding with too many other beach goers. First shot is a section of the fence of a playground area with stumpy shadows surrounding it. The second is of a cool looking beachy bench. The third shot was taken from the boardwalk looking down along Pumicestone Passage. It was a lovely walk. It was an extremely hot walk. The refreshing and yummy icecream that followed shortly after was a very sweet relief. Mmmm...burnt caramel!

Hey shadow shooters! If you ever find the Mr Linky box not displaying, just pop back in a little later to add your link. The Mr Linky hosting site has been experiencing a lot of difficulties over the last few days and has had many brief outages. The issues are often resolved fairly quickly. Alternatively, please feel free to leave a message via the comment box letting me know that you are participating in Shadow Shot Sunday this week and I will be happy to enter your name and link for you just as soon as I can.

Happy Sunday!

Hi Harriet, Love the short shadows from the fence. The sun must have been high in the sky! Love all your photos! Up putting up mine now! :)
Love your shots...the ones from the playground are cool.

I want to go to beaches named Mooloolaba and Noosa.
Yeah...Mr. Linky is not showing up. I'll check back...

Very pretty colors with the shadows in the fence and bench. The third photo reminds me of fabric for some reason. Love the sun. I really must get out more often to take photos:)

You're killing me here with these warm shots at a beach...do you know what it's like to have your nose freeze shut...mercy...ha!

Cool shots though...

Love fence shots! Ha! I have a fence today too.

Mooloolaba! What a great name!!!
I'm in love with the place, and I've never even seen it.

Great shots! Fab colors in the first one, cool shapes in the second one, and the last one reminds me of wild earth invading space spores!

Great shots. Yep that would be Kings Beach. I love Caloundra too, for many the same reasons as you.

Very nice photos, as always, Tracy. I really like the first two - they're very artsy and sophisticated.

Happy SSS!

I really like the stumpy shadows. Sound wonderful to be at so many beaches I'd get them confused! Not that I'm complaining----today it hit 40 degrees!
kden said…
Great shots, and who cares WHAT beach. All beaches are great I wish I was at one now. Thanks for the great ideas on shadow shots.

How I would love to sit on that bench - the colours are marvellous.

While we were away over the last couple of days staying with friends in the country, their Burmese cat sauntered into the family room and started licking the moisture off the front of the glass-doored wine fridge. I tried to get a shot, but he was a wake-up and sauntered off just as I aimed the camera. I had to smile when I saw GalleryJuana's shot!

First impressions, I thought that third shadow you took was underwater. Looks like a shadow looking through crystal clear water.

Although my eyes have been playing up on me lately. I have to ask others to read fine print on packaging labels. Me thinks glasses aren't too far in the future. Oh fantastic! I look really dorky in glasses ;P

Beautiful beach shadow shots! There are some amazing ones in the collages too, I hope I get a chance to go visit some of them.

Mine is posted, here's a link in case Mr. Linky walks off the job again.

Great shadow shots Tracy! I always love your colors within the shot. My favorite is the last one. I really like how the shadows seem to be almost tattooed onto the rock. They rumble and roll with its edges.

I've missed you and your shadow shots!

Great collages and shots from you this week. I like the bench shot best. Not sure I'd like to sit on the bench. The combination of metal (it looks like it's made of metal) + summer sun + arse, does not sound like a pleasant mix to me. Maybe it's more of a decorative bench rather than a functional one. Caloundra is nice. Spent many school holidays there when living in Brisbane. Those were the days!

It's the playground one for me. That thrilling turquoise shadow makes the whole thing glow like a jeweled painting, somehow. I love this photo. Would be lovely framed, I think, nice and big. Gallery stuff!

Your own SS this week are particularly strong and vivid.
The first was quite outstanding.
What fun this is!
And thank you for hosting so graciously as ever.
I really think people get great pleasure from this project.

We are getting all excited for the Inauguration.
Obama seems so wonderful - and no sad goodbye to Bush!!!

Thanks for hosting, & as always your collages are beautiful.
Elizabeth is right, this is a very fun meme.

Great shadow shot Tracy, don't feel bad I can't remember all the names of our beaches either. I sometimes think the locals like to try and slip-up we who are transplants by confusing us with our beaches names. (man does that make sense?)

I really love the last photo! Star burst shadows :)
You keep out-doing yourself! I was wowed with the first image, then wowed again with the second and third!
I love that you host this event. I am having so much fun with it! Can I thank you yet again?
BTW, I really love the names of those beaches! They have their own rhythm to them.

These are lovely....that last one exquisite!
Love the third one, there. I was surprised to see that it's on a beach, though, and had to look closer to see the water: it looks like the shadow of a Joshua Tree, and those definitely don't ever see the ocean!

Hi Tracy - so many great shadow shots again this week in your collages. And I love your Caloundra shots - especially the third one. I really like going to Caloundra - a lot more low key, pretty beaches and lots of op shops! Happy Sunday (well, Monday now - happy Monday!)

This is my first visit to your blog but I've been enjoying Shadow Shots on the blogs of others for a while now and decided to try my hand today by creating a montage of 'shadow shots' taken last week in my yard with my new NikonD60 and sharing them at Sacred Ruminations as part of my usual Sunday Posting. I'm an amateur when it comes to photography but am learning all the time.
Hugs and blessings,

Fabulous work as always! I love, love, LOVE that last beach photo - the one from the boardwalk.

You're making me envious with your talk of summer heat and ice cream. Burnt caramel sounds delicious!
