Greenfest

Coinciding with both World Environment Day and Queensland Day was a three day event called Greenfest, which was presented by Brisbane City Council. Greenfest was held at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens from the 5th to 7th June, with over 200 exhibitors, 60 bands, 50 speakers, film screenings, art displays, and a range of fun workshops all aiming to help raise awareness about the importance of environmental sustainability.

Much loved Aussie actor Jack Thompson was one of the featured speakers opening the event

The Sunshine Reggae Band from Alice Springs entertaining the crowd

Enjoying the glorious afternoon sunshine and tunes provided by Perth band, Tame Impala

This obsessive gum leaf munching cutie tagged along with the Australian Koala Foundation crew

A well organised event and having the different sections spread around the gardens worked really well. All areas were only a short stroll away from each other, allowing plenty of room to freely move around without anywhere being overcrowded. And the Brisbane Botanic Gardens have never looked so good due to the recent rain Brisbane has experienced. Everything was beautiful, lush, clean and so very very Green!

It looks like a tropical paradise with all the palm trees and perfect weather! I want to move to where you live! And I want to see a koala in real life. He's very cute! A fun and very colorful looking festival. I just watched a movie the other day with Jack Thompson in it. Glad you had fun at GreenFest :)

Wonderful venue for a concert! I love the row of spotlights, the flirty sway of Aboriginal Art, the row of obedient coconut trees. Well they do look very obedient, standing at attention like that !

It's good to be green! It was nice having a stroll around green fest - thanks for sharing your photos too. A colleague of mine chaired the talk on 'green education', but unfortunately I missed her ... but the music was good and I've got 2 new little plants in the garden thanks to BCC ;)

What a great event... yay for going green!

There are a bunch of car-free festival events going on this weekend here around our Vancouver neighborhoods... so should be good!

Aw...I love that Koala! I have one..a stuffed one given to me by my Aussie biz partner last year. I do love this eco and green post and wish we have more at our place. We are plagued by haze again, nothing new, happens every year when the Indonesians start burning to clear land, they have more than 300 hotspots this year. Their haze is choking us..no kidding. Have a great week T..I'll have to read that few hundreds emails now and try to do up my post. Oh, I got my underwater casing, took some lousy pics, got water into the camera when I took it out and again..it went busted...stooooopid me :(
