Here's a cool cycling clip. Scenes from the Queer As Folk series set to Queen's Bicycle Race song. I Love it!

Spring officially arrives on Tuesday and nothing screams spring like bike riding. It's time to dust off my poor neglected pushie because I'm planning to join in on the annual national Ride to Work Day this year.

There's a bit of a cycling theme happening here with my SSS today. Yes it was intentional. Bowling last week, and cycling this week. I may be giving the impression that I'm a sporty type. I'm not. Far from it!

Here's my Shadow Shot Sunday #66


Ok, this shows more reflections than shadows. I'm posting it anyway due to the risk I took in being booted out of the bowling alley for venturing into areas I wasn't permitted to in order to take a photo of some bowling pins. I didn't want my efforts to be for nothing! It was surprisingly easy to scoot down a slippery lane and back without being spotted by staff. Fun too! Here's a little bowling tune from the 80s. Also fun!



The sound quality of this video isn't the best so you'll need to turn the volume up considerably. Sing along!

My little blog break this week is now being extended for about another month. I have a bunch of stuff I need to catch up on so my blogging will be restricted to doing the Shadow Shot Sunday posts only for the time being. I will always find the time to continue playing in shadows! So, I'll see you same time next week! xo

Here's my Shadow Shot(s) Sunday #65



A couple of coffee inspired shadow shots this week. The first was taken in the courtyard cafe at the Griffith University's Queensland Conservatorium of Music. The second is the outer wall of one of my new fave cafes. Conveniently located a short walk from my house. I may be giving the impression here that I spend much of my time hanging around cafes. Visits are mostly brief pit-stops simply to fuel up on caffeine. Mostly...

West End (post code: 4101) "Just beyond South Bank and within walking distance of the city, West End is a lively mixture of cultures. It has long been home to migrant and indigenous communities, and in recent years as been redeveloped. You'll find a diverse range of cuisines in restaurants, take-aways and coffee shops along Boundary Street and surrounding areas. Here are some West End roofs. Or rooves? I'm not quite sure what the plural of roof is. I think the correct spelling is roofs but pronounced rooves. Or maybe I just made that up. Oh I know! I'll call them rooftops!







And here is where I confess to having a bit of a nerdy obsession with rooftops. I so enjoy walking around taking photos of rooftops! Old corrugated iron ones being my favourites! So by way of feeding my obsession I plan to do a semi-regular random series of posts featuring rooftops that appeal to me around Brisbane.

This 10 metre tall sign isn't located outside a motel. It's in fact a scultpure created by Scott Redford found in the forecourt of Brisbane's Gallery of Modern Art and was one of the first major commissions completed under the art+place program. It's a wonderful spectacle when illuminated at night! It's so very kitschy cool!

The BrisStyle Team are gearing up for their Ekka Etsy Extravaganza sale to coincide with Brisbane's annual Ekka (Royal Queensland Show). The magnets are 5 x 7 cm sized mini stretched canvases, with vintage paper attached (the ones in the photo I used old piano rolls and film backing paper), and a crane painted in ink with the word 'peace' stamped on each one. All are given a coat of protective lacquer and have magnetic strips on the reverse. I actually started making these earlier in the year for a fundraising project but I haven't had the time to get the venture up and running yet. One day. So rather than continue having them stashed away in my cupboard for who knows how long I thought I would include them as part of my Ekka Etsy Extravaganza sale offer.

Here's my Shadow Shot Sunday #63


Poor sad looking little tree. Looking at this tree reminded me of the tree saving scene from Harold & Maude. I searched youtube for the scene with the intention of sharing it here but I couldn't find it. Oh well.
This week I received some awards from two bloggers I admire a great deal. Gabbi from Felinofelice passed along four wonderful awards to me, and Sarah from Circles of Rain passed along the sweet Circle of Friends award. Both of their beautiful blogs are an immense joy to visit so I was very honoured to be included on their blog award recipient lists! I would like to share a snippet of what Sarah wrote on her award post...
