While in the garden attempting to revive my very sad looking grape vine I noticed these late afternoon bike shadows in the carport. I imagined each spoke a smirk, mocking my less than impressive gardening skills...

Paranoid? Me? No. They were smirking I tells ya. And snickering. I distinctly heard the sound of snickering.

Here's my Shadow Shot Sunday #105


Sculptural shadows found in the gardens of a local art gallery. I've posted a variety of these garden sculptures on my other blog this past week if interested is seeing more. They sure are more impressive than my dinky pinch pot endeavours from way back in high school. I couldn't even master the basics of working with clay so I have the utmost respect for anyone who can create things of beauty from big blocks of goop.

Here's my Shadow Shot(s) Sunday #104

An autumnal shadow shooting spree in the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens this week. Not to be confused with the other Brisbane Botanic Gardens located a short 7km away in Mt Cooth-tha. The reason for the gardens being established at Mt Coot-tha was due to eight major floods sweeping through the city gardens between 1870 and 1974. So the flood-free site of Mt Coot-tha was decided upon by Brisbane City Council for a second Brisbane Botanic Garden site and it officially opened in 1976. To my knowledge the original Botanic Gardens haven't experienced flooding since the opening of the second Botanic Gardens. So we are now very lucky to have two major botanical garden attractions within such close proximity to each other.






We're nearing the end of autumn in Australia, and the cooler weather is just starting to kick in here in Brisbane. While it's been brisk in the early mornings and evenings this past week the days have been perfect. There's something really magical about autumn sunshine! And we've had sunshine a plenty. Yay!

Some interesting scenes in the city on Friday afternoon that I spotted while running through King George Square to catch my bus. I love the cherry blossom tree shadows on the cloaks in the first photo! I also love the fact that I had time to quickly snap these pics and still catch my intended bus. Just had to run extra fast!

Here's my Shadow Shot Sunday #102

A couple of shadows found at the Gallery of Modern Art this week

Now this is exactly the kind of security staff I like to see when wandering around art galleries. There's no chance of being harassed from this dude for taking photos in areas that I'm not meant to be taking photos


And he didn't even bat an eyelid when I accidentally knocked over this gigantic inflatable bunny exhibit!

Just kidding of course. The big bunny (named Jim McMurtry is by artist Michael Parekowhai) was like that when I arrived, and is part of UNNERVED: The New Zealand Project exhibition which runs until 4th July.
