These were taken at Coochiemudlo Island. Or simply 'Coochie' as the locals refer to it. I'll probably be posting some more pics of cutie coochie during the week.

Have you noticed how bare this post is looking in comparison to other Sundays? How something vital is missing? Yes! The Shadow Gallery collages are missing this week. Due to being sick last week, unfortunately I didn't have the time to create the collages. All will be back to normal for next SSS. And a big thanks for all the lovely well wishes. They were so very appreciated. You guys are the best! Have I told you that lately? I don't believe I have. YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST! xox

treasures

Treasures I found on a walk today. Perhaps not considered treasures by many people but each made me smile. I'm easily pleased. Some days. Such as today.

I have ideas swimming around in my head for a fun TtV (Through the Viewfinder) photo shoot using the tiny bird nest. Hoping to have a play on the weekend!

* Please note: the nest was on the ground empty. I'd never take a nest in use by my feathered friends

I visited another of my neighbouring islands, Lamb Island, for the first time a couple of weeks ago. With a less than 5 minute ferry ride and a cheap-as-chips 'inter-island' fare I'm not sure why I hadn't visited earlier. A very quiet and picturesque little island with approximately 300 residents, Lamb Island is the second smallest of the four Southern Moreton Bay Islands. Or the third largest. Depending on how you like to look at things. One thing that did strike me as odd was the discovery of how very sceptical some residents are of somebody with a camera. That somebody with a camera being me. While I was taking photos of the quaint looking general store/cafe, one of the customers jumped up and asked if I was a terrorist. I replied no and quickly moved on. Then later while I was taking some photos along the beach a man yelled out to me from his back deck asking what I was doing. I replied I was taking photos. Pointing to my camera in a very obvious manner while giving my verbal response on the chance the man had a hearing impairment. Which would explain the yelling. He then asked if I belonged to 'one of those groups' and I had no idea what groups he could be referring to. By his tone I suspected that these 'groups' were not groups that he thought very highly of. I muttered that I didn't belong to any groups and hurried away. So I didn't take as many photos as I would have liked to, but that hasn't deterred me from returning to Lamb Island one day soon. It was just one of those days I guess. Folk were a little on edge for some reason. Perhaps I should have taken the time to ask about the reasons. Maybe next time...

The bird above I believe to be a White-Bellied Sea Eagle but I'm not 100% certain.

Here's my Shadow Shot Sunday #118


This big windmill next to the State Library of Qld looks a little out of place...


But hey, it casts a cool shadow across the walkway. The windmill is there to promote an exhibit at the SLQ Gallery called Windwells: Channelling + Divining.

I currently have a nasty flu and I'm struggling to remain upright for long periods of time so it's back to bed for me. I apologise in advance if I'm unable to visit blogs this weekend as I'll be sleeping as much as I can trying to shake this horrid sickness as fast as possible. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend. Here's my Shadow Shot(s) Sunday #117



These shadows were found on a walk around Perulpa Island the other day. The indigenous meaning for Perulpa is island off the island, and this tiny island is connected to a larger island (Macleay Island) via a causeway. I'm guessing that those wooden posts have been placed at the entrance of this bush walking track to stop cars from entering. Some nice views to Stradbroke Island from Perulpa.

On a walk around my neighbourhood recently I saw this gorgeous old bicycle in a front yard. As much as it would please me to see it renovated and enjoyed as a beautiful mode of transportation, it looks quite perfect just resting there as is.

Crabs! Small blue crabby shadows scrambling across the shore. And these little guys move super fast. I think I made quite a spectacle of myself trying to snap a decent enough shot of their shadows. Don't you just love the colour combination of the orange legs and those blue shells? These are some chic crustaceans!
