Some scenes from the last day of winter. It's spring tomorrow. Hurrah! I have to confess that I didn't struggle with winter this year like I usually do. Either it wasn't a very cold winter or I've finally become more tolerant of cold weather.

It's been a little while since I last blogged, so to break the drought I thought I'd just share a few of my instagram pics from this week. A little baking, a lot of coffee consumption and enjoying the beautiful Queensland winter sunshine!

Just snapped a few pics of some weeds I pulled from the garden. As one does! Weeding certainly isn't the most exiting of things to be doing, so this is my way of throwing an element of fun into an otherwise very mundane task.
This is a feather I found on the footpath on my walk home yesterday. It's pretty & I wish I knew what type of bird it came from. I was going to take a pic of it then & there laying on the path but others were walking close by so I felt a little silly. So I discreetly picked it up, popped it into my coat pocket & took a photo of it on my old garden potting table when I arrived home. I think the potting table turned out to be a nicer background than the concrete footpath anyway.

Above is part of an order I'd been working on recently for a lovely new stockist in NSW called Twig & Moss. Hurrah! Twig & Moss are located in Maitland, so if you're around the area pop in for a vist and say a big hello to them! They've recently created a Facebook Page where you can keep up to date with all their news.

Early this morning while making coffee I looked out the kitchen window and spotted this egret wandering around the front yard. I grabbed a camera and continued watching him from the window while snapping a few pics.
Beady-eyed egret doing a very thorough check of the strawberry patch. Was he looking for strawberries to eat? Do egrets even eat strawberries? I wasn't too concerned anyhow as the plants aren't bearing fruit yet.
Arrrrgh! Now he's trampling through the strawberry patch. Stomp, stomp...
And he continues on with his journey stomping further through the garden
All that stomping calls for a rest to stretch the neck. Or he's doing tai-chi.
He proceeded to wander around for a while & then suddenly speared the ground with his beak. Protruding from that beak is a big fat juicy garden worm. MY big fat juicy garden worm. Grrrr! I've often noticed holes in my yard and wondered who created them. Mystery now solved. An egret sticking his beak where he shouldn't be sticking his beak. The culprit caught on camera stealing my garden worms! Oh well, such is life. He certainly appeared to have enjoyed his wriggley breakfast. Me? I had to make another coffee because my first one went cold...

Made a couple of little homes for some succulents. Such an easy peasy project! Some wooden blocks and a drill! And of course some plants to stick into those freshly drilled chunky holes. Now to figure out which window sill to pop 'em on!
