Here's my Shadow Shot Sunday #60
This shadow cast from a rather fancy looking plumbing device doovey on an old weather-worn concrete wall really appealed to me. I spotted it while sitting in an outdoor city cafe sipping (er...guzzling) coffee.
NAIDOC WEEK 2009
This week Australians has been celebrating NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance committee) week. As it happens to be the last day of the celebrations today I decided to compile a collage using some of the photos I took on Friday at the NAIDOC Family Fun Day Festival at Musgrave Park.
"NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community." ~ NAIDOC website. The website contains a lot of great information about the history of NAIDOC, and particularly interesting is the gallery of NAIDOC posters dating back to the early 1970s.

An exciting event happening today at Portside Wharf is the Coffee and Chocolate Affair. This much anticipated event will showcase exotic coffee and chocolate cultures from all around the world. Also taking place today at the very same location are the Boutique Markets. As they do on the 2nd Sunday of every month. What better way to spend a Sunday in Brisbane I say! Coffee. Chocolate. Shopping. Oh sweet bliss!
Happy Sunday!

I wish tolerance was just a way of life all over the world, but then we have a lifetime to practice...let's hope we get it right this time!
Have a wonderful Sunday...stay warm!
The coffee & chocolate affair sounds divine
I do love your festivals and enjoy your photos of them so much.
And yes we'll be heading over to Hamilton tomorrow to guzzle some coffee and chocolate, oh and a spot of shopping too of course :D Maybe we'll see you there !

cool shot in B/W of the plumbing doovey. Very artistic.
Thanks for including my kitty in the photo collages this week.
And that does sound like a very cool festival.
Once again I think your shadow collection would make a superb coffee-table book.
Thanks too for the NAIDOC pictures; very colourful.
Here's my shadow....

That festival looks like a very positive, affirmative event. I think it's interesting on the NAIDOC site that there is a warning about possible photos of people who are now deceased. The Aboriginal worldview and belief system is something I know very little about, so I found that warning rather intriguing.
What a great festival. The coffee/choclate business is right up my alley.
Whoooo!! What an awesome image. It is truly mesmerizing.
Awsome.
Happy SSS!
Ur contribution is awesome too... I was there on your last post & it seems your enjoying.
Thinking the coffee, the choco and all the goodies stuffs? Now am drolling...
Have a great w/end Tracy. Sending you my half warm hugs to give you some warm.
XOXO (really big ones)
Love your shadow shot! Unique and very arty! (I avoided adding farty since the device seems to be associated with plumbling!)
NAIDOC ~ I am ashamed to say I was unaware of this one. Perhaps if I lived closer in to Melbourne I may have noticed celebrations happening! The photos are great!
Happy weekend!
Awesome arty shadow shot Harriet! Happy Sunday to you. Have fun!
I'm not sure I'll get around to my shadow shot today, Meeting some school friends for lunch I haven't seen for hmmmm 18 years, OMG I feel old!
Happy SSS and have a great week :)
Yours for this week looks like a giant, menacing bat!
I suspect by now you're all hopped up on coffee and chocolate:)Sounds like the perfect way to spend a Sunday!
I sure wish I could be part of the chocolate and coffee affair.
Have fun for all of us.
I joined in this week!
Can't believe you have been doing this for 60 weeks.
What a lot of hard work which I'm sure we all appreciate.
sorry I missed last week.
too much family.....
I've missed the past couple of weeks but I'm so pleased to be back :)
