Say Cheese!

Woohoo! My new toy arrived today! A Diana+ Lomo Camera. It's a faithful reproduction of the original 1960s Diana model, with a few new nifty features tossed in. I'm especially excited about the removable lens & super small aperture setting for pinhole photography. AND, the two image formats for square shots. I just adore goofy & eccentric little low tech cameras. Cameras that take film. Yes! Oh-so-glorious film! Digital Schmigital! Ok ok...I must confess that digital cameras are very convenient & mine certainly gets a lot of use. I believe that my digital camera & I have a classic love-hate relationship. Or at the very least an obligatory friendship. I'm going to enjoy getting to know & bonding with my new gadget & hopefully I'll post some of the developments here as things progress.

Ahhh I love those cameras! They have such character - the imperfections and the plastic and the fuzzy photos is what makes them so FUN.
Digital sometimes can get 'too perfect'...

I love my trusty digital camera, but I miss my 60-year-old Russian rangefinder film camera a lot. It's a pain to get film into - and film is annoying and costly to process now that I'm not at university and don't have access to their photo labs - but it's incredibly fun to use.

Very cute!! I have a Holga at home that is collecting dust. I wish I could use it more but finding places to develop the prints is a little difficult for me.

I don't know anything about cameras, but I like the pretty blue detail on this one, and the fact it's called Diana. He he!
