Botanical Bumbling...

The study of plants is vital because they are a fundamental part of life on Earth, which generates the oxygen, food, fibres, fuel and medicine that allow humans to exist. Through photosynthesis, plants absorb carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas that in large amounts can affect global climate. Additionally, they are influential in the water cycle. A good understanding of plants is crucial to the future of human societies.
~ Excerpt from Wikipedia

Things would look very grim for the future of human societies if dependant on my knowledge of plants...

Pink ~ I have no idea what these flowers are called.

Red ~ I have no idea what these ones are called either.

Green ~ Leaves! ...but the name of the plant from which they sprout from I am clueless.

Yellow ~ Oooh I know this! Rosella! Named simply here as 'yellow' in keeping with my clueless colour theme

Why do people give each other flowers? To celebrate various important occasions, they're killing living creatures? Why restrict it to plants? "Sweetheart, let's make up. Have this deceased squirrel."
~The Washington Post

Here's an idea. Why not give a friend or loved one a flower photo print? Much sweeter than a dead smelly squirrel.

LOL! A flower photo is much the better alternative! :o) The photo will last much, much longer that the real one... and does anyone really want a dead squirrel?! hehehe... But these are gorgeous floral observations... :o)

You know more than me because I don't know the names of any of them! Lovely ttvs! I like the yellow one best of all! You always find the best quotes for your posts! I'm still laughing about the 'deceased squirrels for my sweetheart'

Much better idea. I like your pictures, at least!

That's funny! Actually, I would quite like a dead squirrel if it was properly stuffed and mounted! Love the photos-especially the first one-gorgeous colours-I don't know the name either!

Crap, I wish I'd thought of that before buying all those dead smelly squirrels... but it was such a great sale, 2 for the price of 1... how could I resist?

All kidding aside, you have done it again my dear, as these are absolutely lovely! xo

Thank you for looking at my Sadow even if I was late to Mr linky.

Things would look very grim for the future of human societies if dependant on my knowledge of plants... YES I can see that.

It is difficult to help you with the name I need to se more of the plants to identify them - BUT flowers/plant are beautiful!

Gorgeous photos...love that framing device you have...is the first one something like protea or Proteus native to S.Africa??
Wonderful photos! I don't even care that you don't know the names. I like them because they look so pretty! I'm sure they smell beautiful to. YES much sweeter than a dead smelly squirrel!

great photos!... i am terrible at flower and plant names too, unless its obvious, like a rose or daisy.

it is funny how people give each other flowers, basically something that lives a very short timeframe and then dies.

Beautiful collection of Ttv T!! Oh, now we both know we have something in common..I couldn't name most of the flowers in my garden either. Love the Rosella ;p Happy week ahead...hugs :)

Beautiful floral shots, Tracy! I love the red one the best. :D Alas, I don't know their names either, but each is gorgeous.
I think that is a wonderful idea Tracy! And your photos are so beautiful!! I especially love the Pink one. That angle with the blue sky behind it is just perfect:D

Lovely photos, I also really like the framing.

First one is everlastings (or paper daisies)

Very lovely photos! They look dreamy! Aren't the top pink ones paper daisies? Just a guess there as I'm a bit clueless too when it comes to specifics!

I don't know any of the flowers here but ooohhh....the first one is simply dreamy! You can just imagine delicate fairies flittering between the blooms!

I love the Pink, Red, and Yellow flower pictures. Beautiful (as always).
And about the quote...maybe we give flowers because squirrels and other such dead things don't smell nice on your kitchen table. :D

Gorgeous pictures! I would be so pleased to receive these instead of cut flowers :)

I'm clueless when it comes to the plant world. All I know is they look beautiful in your photos. Thank you for sharing these anonymous beauties.

Oh Tracy these are beautiful. I've no idea of names either, but you know, I think proper names would somehow diminish the ethereal effect of these gorgeous photo prints. There is something so wonderfully 'other-worldly' about them...

I love your TtV work, Tracy. The flowers look lomoed. Sometimes overblown is best.

I share your cluelessness in the flower naming! My words are usually descriptive when talking about flowers.... you know pretty, beautiful, the long orange flowers with fuzzies in the middle! Ya know... maybe someday I'l add that to my list of things to learn! btw... I keep missing sss, because of camping... wondering if you could add the link a day early or would that just ruin the point of sss? Of course, don't want you to do it just for me! I could always tack my entry on at the end of the weekend - then it's Monday THERE and I've basically missed it! :) Happy weekend to you!!

Ha! Brilliant Tracey! Who needs to know the names when you can take photos like that? I'm sure you've had a slew of people identify them by now!

Best,
Gina

Lovely flowery shots Tracey - flowers are a lot more attractive than dead squirrels, I think - especially TtV flowers! :)

I agree - I love getting flowers because of the thought behind, but it seems like such a waste when they die. I prefer getting potted flowers.
The photos are gorgeous. I have no clue as to what any of them are called either, and from the above comments it looks like we're in good company!
Thanks for commenting on Sam's photos on my blog!
