zines and beans

The eagerly anticipated first ever edition of the Six South zine has hit the market and is now ready for purchasing from all good Etsy stores. Ok, I'm slightly exaggerating about it being available from ALL good Etsy stores. I believe all six contributors will have the zines available for sale from their individual stores. The zine is a collaboration between six very talented Australian illustrators and the theme for this issue is Love & Hate. The zine is a nifty a5 size and the cover artwork was designed by one of my fave artists, Sam.

Check the shops belonging to the artists below to snag yourself a copy!

Sam ~ matouenpeluche
Emma ~ benconservato
Penny ~ pocketcarnival
Helena ~ littlemoandfriends
Niina ~ niinaaoki
Ali ~ aussiepatches

And what do beans have to do with zines? Nothing. Apart from the fact that zines and beans rhyme.

While munching away on these tasty little jelly belly beans I thought that an image of these colourful sweets would make a nice picture for a jigsaw puzzle. So I took a few photos and uploaded one to Big Huge Labs...

As you can see I've managed to reach a whole new level of procrastination. I'm currently filling in tax forms. I don't like filling in tax forms. So not fun. I'll persevere. Only because I've run out of jelly beans.

The bowl of jelly beans is my contribution to the Color Carnival party this week.

I do feel guilty about eating them all before I even arrived...

I love jelly beans and if I have any have to eat them all at once! I like the jigsaw and all those shops have some beautiful work! I must start buying Christmas presents now! Glad you like the award too!
Hope your tax form is done now!

You big bad jelly belly bean tax evading monster! You arriving with an empty bowl to a party is not unlike myself arriving with an empty bottle of wine ;) So nice to see the zine culture is still alive and well. It's been ages since I've flicked through one!

A very nice selection of shadow shots below. I'm only catching up now after being away for the last week on holidays. Hope to post some photos in a day or two :)

Hey it's cold there, that makes you grouchy, now you add in tax forms too? Ugh, pure torture! You deserve a whole barrel of jelly beans!

They look yummy and make a great Color Carnival entry! Thanks for playing :-)
I want to dive right into that bowl of jelly beans! I have a serious addiction to those! That zine sounds great. I'll have a browse of those artist store links. Tax stuff gives me a headache so I pay an accountant to do mine!

Well I've obviously been pronouncing zines wrongly if they rhyme with beans! Just shows that we learn somethin new every day! The book looks fab...so great to see artists collaborating...

Awww T, you didn't leave a single bean for me :(

I would love a copy of the zine..sounds like fun reading!! These jelly beans are also my fav, I eat them when I am driving..I don't know why but I tend to eat junk when I am driving, beans and kit kats tops it all..so much for dieting hehe...

Have a good week -- weekend, time does fly way too fast. tata/hugs/m

some people say that there is an art to procrastination. I like that way of thinking; who'd want to be doing boring old tax forms?!

I have just bought this zine! I am already an admirer of a few of these girls' work, so I can't wait for the zine to arrive! (that, and the fact that I love getting mail!)

hope you're still enjoying your tax form evasion!

I'm with you about the tax forms, very uninspiring. I'd rather be eating jelly beans too.

Thank you for the little plug for our zine. We are all excited to do another. Perhaps with more people too?

OOoooh! Jelly beans....num num num num...! etc etc! Thank you sweetie for the plug!! I'm listing mine tonight - silly (much stronger words actually but I shan't publish them here!) internet has gone all wonko and has decided to move at a snail's pace...*sigh* But Tonight for sure! Love your definition of a snood!!! I was totally going to believe you, you know!

The colors in that bowl of jelly beans is so rich. I like to taste color as if it is food, but tasting food as if it is color...
What could be more boring than filling tax forms? Yes, procrastinating as an art form, that my summer.

Awesome post - love the jelly beans. They are so tiny that I always think they have no calories - too bad I can't eat only one or two.

If I had that bowl of jellybeans in front of me, there's no way those tax returns would be done. And now you have shown me how to create jigsaw puzzles, you wicked woman. You realise that means less time to sew!
Looks like a very cool zine and your bean pics are lively and colorful!
Peace, Judi

Oh yummi!!! Gotta love a handful of colourful jelly beans :)
Who doesn't like a good rhyme?! Beans and zines does make for a good one:)

Thanks for hep'n me to the new zine. They certainly are a talented lot.

Beautiful bean photo. They make a really neat puzzle. I am resisting clicking on the Big Huge Labs link. I'm afraid I won't get out of there. I envision it as a place filled with mad scientists that are busy devising more and more clever ways to trap me in their cyber lab. If I go there I think I will turn into a Big Huge cyber Lab rat! Be very careful when you go there Tracy....they'll turn you into a rat too;}

Hope you got those nasty tax forms all filled out.

Love the Zine idea (must get me a copy) and I also love those Jelly Beans of yours! So dangerous... easily eat an entire bowl also... I start off thinking 'Let me see what this one tastes like...' and then it becomes 'Let me see which of these I like the most...' and then suddenly the bowl's empty!♥

I came back to say hello and see if you had made another entry, and reread my comment and was horrified, what was I eating that day??? I must have been under some kind of influence...hahaha...
Did you finish your tax returns? Have a divine weekend!

I'm laughing, because I'm reading your blog posts right now instead of doing the laundry. And weeding the garden. And cleaning the kitchen.

Very cool zine, and I love the puzzle. Jelly beans are such a pretty candy.
Colorful and TASTY looking jelly beans ... I used to keep these at my desk while I was teaching but don't allow myself to do so at home alone for obvious reasons ;--)
I played too!
Hugs and blessings,

Looks as though I've joined your procrastination club. I just purchased the art zine. I suddenly have a craving for jelly beans for some reason!!! So I've settled for two jungle jellies instead.

At least you've started filling in your tax forms. I can't even find mine! Plus I haven't gathered or entered any income or expense data for the past 12 months.

Procrastination is sooo much more fun!
