Here's my Shadow Shot Sunday #71

This unusually shaped shadow cast from the different angles of the plant leaves caught my eye. It looks like an elephant. With one eye. And an upside down ear. And a short pointy trunk. But definitely an elephant!

A little Sunday silliness...

Question: Why do elephants wear shoes with yellow soles?
Answer: So you don't see them when they float upside down in a bowl of custard.

I googled 'elephant jokes' and believe it or not that was the best of the bunch!

Happy Sunday!

hey tracy~ love the shadow shot...especially on that old wood!!! i was trying to come up with an elephant joke...something about how do you know when one has been in your peanut butter...by it's footprints...something like that...but it's not much better than the custard one...too funny.
have a wonderful day!!
BEAUTIFUL! It's fall here (officially), so it must be spring down under? Happy SSS!

The shadow gallery just gets better and better each week!!!

Cute elephant! He looks like he is about to stab that little pink flower with his pointy trunk! Happy Sunday to you :)
I'm baaaack!

Glad to see a nice, crisp shot. I was hoping you weren't near the red smoke I've been hearing about on the news......
I agree that the gallery gets better each time. Such fascinating shadows. And of COURSE there's an elephant in yours! (Note the dragon in a recent post of clouds on my blog.) And the elephant joke I remember, which totally cracked me up when I was a teenager, is "How can you tell if an elephant has been in your refrigerator? By the footprints in the cheesecake." Guess I had a taste for the wacky and surreal even then.

Did you go out last night...is this a pink elephant perhaps...I see half a man with a shield and a spear...but then again, I watched 'the 300' last night and can't get Gerard Butler out of my mind...ahhh loincloths and Australian accents...

What a great shadow shot for the day! And it does indeed look like an elephant! Very creative!!!

Thanks for hosting the fun! I love it!

Great shadow.

We had a whole elephant joke book (actuall, I think it was called "Elephants, Grapes, and Pickles") when I was a kid. My favorite of the bunch:

Q: Why do ducks have webbed feet?
A: To stamp out forest fires.
Q: Why do elephants have flat feet?
A: To stamp out burning ducks.

Why are elephants always crying?

Because people tell such awful jokes about them!

the one above from Tom is new to me though - great fun - cheers G

I see a rooster with an overstyled comb and narrow beak. Shadows can be like clouds. both open to interpretations!

Nice meme, I hadn't considered the time zone difference for your part of OZ and the east coast of the USA. +14 hours. Happily, my post counts for Sunday...

Now that is a really unusual shadow shot!

This meme is so much fun! I can't believe how I am looking at shadows constantly...with or without my camera in hand! Thank you for hosting. Your shadow is so good! Great elephant!

I learned something new with shadows this week. I love this meme.

I've been photographing birds today so I thought your shadow looked like a bird...until you said elephant. ;-)

I can sort of see the elephant but when I first looked at it I saw a T-Rex! I like silly corny jokes like that! My favourite joke is
What's the biggest crustation?
Kings Cross Station! (It's all in the pronunciaTION!)
Sarah said…
crustacean(I knew I was wrong but could not remember how to spell it!)

No! It's a evil creature with it's mouth open wide, just about to catch and devour a sweetie! Look at that mean eye!

Intriguing shadow that seems to morph into any imaginative creature you want it to be! A Bit like looking at cloud shapes!

I see a man with a sword and shield too and I haven't seen 300 for months. Just posted my first Shadow Shot. My ducks aren't trained in fire fighting but are quite good at eating, sleeping and romancing.

Hello Tracy,

I have a dumb elephant/duck joke for you...

Why do ducks have webbed feet?

To stomp out burning forest fires.

Why do elephants have flat feet?

To stomp out burning ducks!

Kinda silly!

Thinking of you, Alissa

I've enjoyed scrolling through the comments reading all the elephant jokes! A cute shadow from you this week! A very different kind of garden ornament and a change from the usual garden gnomes I see around ;)

I could not see your elephant! More like a spade. Any more than I could see Jackson Pollock's signature behind the painting recently shown, Perhaps this is not my silly day! Anyway, I did enjoy the strong shape and colours whatever you imagine is there as well!
hee hee hee.....Hey Tracy:
"Why don't elephants ride bikes?
They don't have a thumb to ring the bell."
Hep...that was pretty bad too wasn't it?!! Looks like everyone was having fun sharing their elephant jokes, so we thought we'd join in! Love your shadow...though we were thinking something industrial - we can think elephant too! Have a great week!

Hiya sweetie! Love your elephant!! The joke is very in keeping with your surreal generator me thinks - I love that by the way - it always makes me giggle when I read it!! Thank you so much for including my first SSS in one of your pretty collages - quite a thrill!! Have a lovely week - I'm back at work (boooo!!!) but hopefully I'll survive! Thank you again for the SSS and the intro - my boyfriend and I have been enjoying hunting out SSS 's every time we go for walks!! XX

Got to love the mushroom photo!
Love that shadow! What it reminds me of is the old movie Them, with the giant ants? I don't know why, but it just looks vaguely giant-ant-like. :)

Some shadows of mine are up at Wish I Were Baking.

Thanks!

Wow, that is a distinctive shape for a plant shadow! It reminds me of a discombobulated triceratops!

So many terrific features this week!

Thank you for featuring my lampshade shadow! This week's subject is also related to a lamp. Maybe relating subjects from one week to the next can be a fun challenge to add to this.

OK, I'm an idiot! I found Mr. Linky...Thanks!
Have to admit, this is an interesting shot. I had to keep looking at the picture to see the elephant, but I think I was trying too hard.
I like the joke about elephants..
What do they do with old bowling balls..Make rosary's for Catholic elephants..I told my Polish grandmother that joke and she wasn't happy with me..ha, ha.
jabblog said…
Lovely clear shot, elephant or no.
I was teaching when the elephant jokes were very popular - they got very tiring, almost as bad as the 'knock knock' jokes. Rosebud's joke made me laugh though I can imagine her grandmother's reaction - oh dear ;-)

Thanks for the elephant chuckles to accompany your kewl shadow today! Love the shadow gallery always ;--)
Hugs and blessings
As always, you do such a great job with the collages. And your shots are always superb. It's not easy finding a good shadow, I know because I'm always on the look out too!

Definitely looking like an elephant SSS. I was staying at the Hyatt and had so many SSS, so me thinking of doing a post on Hyatt cum SSS next week..or not. Now that has to be a giant bowl of custard...hehe!!
It took me a while to see the elephant! I do see it clearly now. I think. Fun SSS this week. I wish I knew an elephant joke to add here, but I never remember jokes! I like yours :)

That's an amazing shadow gallery. I haven't had a chance to do the SSS for a while. I'm going to have to work a bit harder to become more shadow creative. I love them all. And I love your elephant shadow, although I think it looks more like a butterfly. A boy butterfly? or a girl butterfly? hmmm... I don't see a drum anywhere so maybe it's a girl?
