Harold & Maude & Me

Ok, I was tagged by the very talented Aussie artist Esta Sketch a little while back to post 7 random or weird facts about myself. So here they are...

1) I know every single word of dialogue from the film Harold & Maude.
2) I know all the lyrics to each & every song from the film Harold & Maude.
3) I can play an adequate rendition on the xylophone of my favourite song from Harold & Maude.
4) I've been obsessively searching for years for recipes for Oat Straw Tea & Ginger Pie after discovering it in a scene from Harold & Maude.
5) 36 years after the initial release of Harold & Maude, the Holy Grail of unreleased soundtracks was finally released. A limited edition (2500 copies) on vinyl only. I've just become the proud owner of one of those 2500 records.
6) I will be living on 2-minute noodles for the next month.
7) I don't own a record player.

wasn't that riveting...

and now a little excerpt from the Harold & Maude screenplay...

Psychiatrist - That's very interesting, Harold, and I think, very illuminating. There seems to be a definite pattern emerging. And, of course, this pattern, once isolated, can be coped with. Recognize the problem, and you are halfway on the road to its, uh, its solution. Uh, tell me, Harold, what do you do for fun? What activity gives you a different sense of enjoyment from the others? Uh, what do you find fulfilling? What gives you that...special satisfaction?

Harold - I go to funerals.

I won't tag anyone with the '7 random facts' thingy, but if anyone wants to play along please do so. I forget what the rules are. If you don't know already, just make them up. It's more fun that way. I'm sure Maude would agree! Maybe not Harold though.

Ok now I have to watch Harold & Maude, which will be a major chore to find in Tokyo! I love 2-minute noodles! My mom who's a pro cook says I make the best 2 min noodle - I do not just use it as it is, straight from the pack!
Ha! That was hysterical. Best tag answers yet.

Guess it's time to see Harold and Maude again since I don't remember anything from it...

I love Harold & Maude. I haven't watched it in awhile. I will have to rectify that. The soundtrack is wonderful! It is a shame it isn't available to the masses.

Oh this is riveting... but I'm still not sure... do you like Harold & Maude? Ha ha!! Me thinks she does!!
I'll pass on the two-minute noodles although they might help with keep my chocolate cravings at bay.
Starch is starch :)

Oh how you make me laugh... no record player, eh? Is this how Aussies think... buy the coveted sound track but have no, well...sound? I'm confused. Or you are. Or perhaps we both... Harold & Maude. I love it.

I keep trying to explain Harold and Maude to my friends, but it does it no justice.

As for the music: like me, my dad is a drummer, and my grandfather was a jazz saxophonist and all the kids I hung out with as a child were the children of my dad's bandmates, so music was my world. I thought everyone in the world was a musician, and oddly enough that meant that I though Cat Stevens' songs were sung by my Dad's uncle Ray and that the song "Amy" (for which my sister was name) was written by my Auntie Debbie and Uncle Bruce. Uncle Ray or not, Cat Stevens remains one of my all time favorite songwriters. Yusef Islam is a whole other story.

Great post! Oh, how I love Harold and Maude! The exquisite Ruth Gordon stole my heart in her portrayal of Maude, and I vowed as a girl to grow up to be just like her! I had my own girls watch it for the first time a few years ago, and was giddy with excitement to turn them onto this amazing piece of work!
Hey at least their are many varieties of noodles these days..you will never have the same meal twice! Think of it as a challenge..add cheese, veggies..or what ever! and who is Harold and Maude?

I remember reading Harold & Maude in my youth and the story has always stuck with me. Maude is one of my role models.

Ever notice how Harold always has the exact same suit and tie as his psychiatrist in all three sessions?
