You Me Us - Radiothon

Smack bang in the middle of the BrisStyle Etsy Ekka Extravaganza sale (sick of me mentioning this yet?) our wonderful Queensland Government has given us a Public Holiday. Fancy that! The Qld government awarding us enthusiastic & enterprising Etsians living in Brisbane a day off! Woohoo! Many Brisbane residents are under the impression that the Public Holiday is in celebration of the big Ekka Show thingy that’s happening right now. I’ll not let those silly ignorant people burst my bubble. Another huge event happening this week in Brisbane is the 4zzz Radiothon. 4zzz is an independent community radio station that relies on passionate volunteers and on subscriptions (memberships) to continue operating, as it receives no other form of funding. The Radiothon is the major fundraising drive that happens every year. If you live in Brisbane and have not yet subscribed, now is the perfect time to do so. Not only will you receive the regular benefits of subscribing (discounts galore at all of the 4zzz sub-outlet businesses around Brisbane) but you’ll also receive cool gifts (CD packs, movie passes etc…) for subscribing during this week. And, you’ll go into the draw to win one of the major prizes. This year they include an all expenses paid 15 day holiday for two to Vietnam, a $750 voucher to spend in the best music store in the world Rockinghorse Records, an annual Dendy Cinema Gold Pass (entry for two people) and a whole lot more! Just don’t pin your hopes on winning that trip to Vietnam because I plan on winning that one. I’m so confident of winning that I’ve already started packing my bags!

The 33 year old station's motto is AGITATE, EDUCATE, ORGANISE, so go and support 4zzz to continue it’s mission: "to be an influential player in increasing awareness of the concerns of marginalised communities, their issues and music." They really are a good bunch of ratbags and appreciate every little bit of help they receive.

An unexpected holiday! That only happens for us if we've had snow (we're from the South) flooding or even sleet on the roads!

Checked out the 4zzz Radiothon link and I think that's pretty cool how they don't have to follow a playlist. Sounds like a dream job to me!

Hope you win that trip to Vietnam, that way you can blog about it and tell us how beautiful and interesting it is over there!

And I sure like the station's motto, sounds a lot like a mom's motto! lol

Hugs to you Harriet, throwing some sunbeams your way in hopes it'll warm you up!
So should out start packing my bags too? You are taking me to Vietnam with you aren't you? Aren't you?!
