Shadow Shot Sunday #26

"Every picture has its shadows, and it has some source of light" - Joni Mitchell

In Peter Pan the main character loses his shadow. It snaps off when he leaps out of the window, which is slammed closed behind him. It is put in a drawer and later sewed back on by Wendy.

The three Shadow Gallery collages this week feature one photo from each participant from last Sunday plus a couple from the archives. If you’d like to participate in SSS, please do! How you may ask? It's easy peasy! Shoot a shadow, post it on your blog on Sunday (or near enough to Sunday), then add your link to the Mr Linky gadget found at the bottom of this post, and visit other players. Have fun!

Here's my Shadow Shot Sunday #26

The base of a big tree in New Farm Park. Wish I could remember what these big trees are called but I can't. They're very impressive. Those big trees. In NF Park. My brain has gone to mush today so I'll shoosh now.

Happy Sunday

I love the tree, whatever it is...

Very impressive! I love trees in general. This one is amazing. Great shadows.

When I see very old trees, I always wonder what they have "seen"- who has stood beneath them seeking shade/shelter, what histories they have, what stories they would tell. The roots, nooks, crannies, and shadows of this one have a wonderful sculptural quality. Great SSS!

They sure are big trees..good shadows, as always..I will return tomorrow..but with something new I will drag around..Happy SSS..

beautiful shot of that tree! The base has such perosnality and depth!

I am quite sure that this is a Moreton Bay Fig Tree. There are quite a few monster specimens of this tree around Brisbane.

Hi Tracy, a lovely tree shot, i agree with Gemma, that would have been my guess on the tree type. Lovely shot, my kids would love playing around that, nooks and crannies everywhere!! Hope your having a great weekend, hows all that exhibition artwork coming along? annette x :0)

Wow, beautiful shadow shot! I love the fallen red berries. I love this weeks collages. And I would never want to lose my shadow, that would be a nightmare on so many levels.

What a wonderful tree! Looks like it should be in a scene of some beautiful movie which I would enjoy very much. I could take a nap under that tree. Very cozy looking is that big tree in NF Park, with no name.
Nice collages!

I love your tree shot!! It looks like a Banyon tree...but since I don't know what kind of trees you have in your neck of the woods...I had to go look it up. It is in the Banyon family...but is called a Moreton Bay Fig. It's native to eastern Australia. Can you tell I love trees?! I should have read the other comments first and I would have saved myself some time as I now see Gemma and Annette know their trees!!! Anyway it's very cool!!

Guess I'd better get off my ar*e and go find me a shadow of my own:D

Very interesting colors and shadows. I thought I was looking at a scene in an animation.

They must be huge trees. Yay for trees!

What a huge dramatic tree.
I imagine children have lots of fun playing on roots like this - I certainly would have done.

I think the mystery has been solved, but I did like the elephant leg comparison. Great shot.

like a scene out of a wonderful old fairy tale. I love old trees :)

my link says it's my first time, I just clicked enter without realizing it was from the actual first time

hey! I'm a virgin again!!

This is my first time too, Harriet! Your shadowy photo is wonderful! :)

Great selection of beautiful and sophisticated shadow shots here! Your tree shot looks dark and mysterious, as if little other worldly creatures are lurking all around. Very cool!

Also, I like your Peter Pan reference. When my sister and I were little, she used to stand by the window each night, praying to Peter Pan to come and teach her to fly.

The photo is magical, Harriet. And thank you for the Joni Mitchell quote I love that song. I may post that to my jukebox one of these days. ;-)

Beatiful shadows, and what appear to be cherries or something on the ground add a sweetness. Thanks for a great meme!

I searched my hard drive for an appropriate photo and came up with my entry. The shadow is small, but its there!

If new farm partk is filled with trees that look like that, it must be beautiful. Excellent shadow shot.

I love this shadow shot. So deep and rich and mysterious.
I posted my shadow shot at 1:00 this morning and just now remembered to link here. Sorry about that!

I really like the b&w shots, they are so little explicit and mysterious...

beautifully mysterious! I love your shadow Sundays!!
A lovely shot; at first I wondered if those little shapes at the root's base were pixies. Thank you for Shadow Shot Sunday, it is a delightful meme!
Great photos! I especially enjoyed yours. What an amazing pic. There are some large trees in Southern California, especially at Balboa Park, but HOLY MOLY the base on this sucker is gigantic!

Thanks so much for your comment, its great being here, it certainly gets you looking at things a little differently, I haven't taken much notice of shadows until I saw this.
Cheers
